A case of enforced disappearance involving a 27-year-old labourer from Balochistan’s Kech district has surfaced nearly five months after he was allegedly taken into custody by FC personnel, as the VBMP protest camp in Quetta continued for its 6,187th day on Sunday.
According to reports, Mohammad Sadiq, son of Bahot, a resident of Bal Nigwar in Kech, was taken into custody from his native area at around 11:30pm on 11 January 2026 and moved to an undisclosed location.
No information about his whereabouts has been received since then.
Rights activists say many families in Balochistan are unable to immediately report enforced disappearance cases because of state pressure, harassment and fear of possible retaliatory action.
They say delayed reporting further complicates such cases and increases the difficulties faced by affected families.
The case surfaced as the protest camp set up by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) outside the Quetta Press Club continued for the 6,187th day on Sunday.
The camp was led by VBMP executive committee member Niaz Mohammad. Comrade Manzoor Baloch visited the camp and expressed solidarity with families of missing persons.
Speaking at the camp, Manzoor Baloch demanded an “immediate end” to enforced disappearances in Balochistan and called for the recovery of all missing persons.
