At least three people, including two women, were injured in two separate gas leak explosions in Quetta on Saturday, police said.
According to Quetta police, the first incident occurred in a residential house at Yousaf Homes on Sirki Road, where a gas leak triggered an explosion. As a result, a woman sustained burn injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
In a separate incident on Qambrani Road, another gas leak caused an explosion inside a house, leaving a husband and wife with burn injuries. Police said both victims were immediately shifted to hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Authorities said the condition of the injured was not immediately known, while investigations into both incidents are underway.
Residents have pointed out that such accidents frequently occur during the winter season due to gas load-shedding. Sudden restoration of gas supply after prolonged outages often leads to leakages, increasing the risk of explosions.
Despite repeated complaints, citizens allege that the relevant authorities have failed to take effective measures to address the issue, putting lives at continued risk.
