The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a “pro-independence” armed group, said on Thursday that its fighters killed seven Pakistani soldiers in a series of attacks carried out this week in Kharan, Hoshap, Mastung, Turbat, Kohlu and Chamalang.
In a media statement on Thursday, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said fighters targeted a Pakistani army camp in the Hoshap area of Kech “with rockets and other weapons” on Wednesday. He said a rocket struck and destroyed a security post, killing two personnel and injuring several others.
The BLA said another attack took place the same night in the Shoaap area of Lejay, Kharan, where fighters opened fire with automatic weapons and “eliminated three occupying army personnel” on the spot. At least three more were injured, the group added.
In a separate statement issued on Tuesday, the BLA said its fighters had carried out four additional operations in Mastung, Turbat, Kohlu and Chamalang.
The group said fighters ambushed army personnel engaged in railway-track clearance in the Jalo Gandan area of Mastung on Monday, killing two soldiers on the spot and injuring another who “managed to escape.”
The statement said a grenade attack targeted a Pakistani army checkpost near Park Hotel in Turbat the same day, causing “casualties and property damage.”
The BLA said its fighters also attacked a security camp of a private gas company in the Sinhari area of Kohlu later that evening. According to the statement, private security personnel were detained and their weapons seized, while local workers were released with a warning.
In Chamalang’s Triple Modh area, the group said fighters targeted another private security camp belonging to a coal-extraction company. Weapons were seized and personnel were released after being cautioned to stop working with such firms.
The BLA warned individuals providing security or support to what it described as “exploitative companies” to immediately cease cooperation, saying those who continue will “bear full responsibility for their personal and financial consequences.”
Pakistani authorities had not issued statements responding to the BLA’s claims at the time of publication.
