The issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan is reportedly continuing with fresh reports emerging from Gwadar.

According to local sources, on Sunday evening security forces conducted operations in Gwadar’s Kuldan and Gubd areas, detaining five individuals who were subsequently taken to an undisclosed location. Witnesses reported that personnel, travelling in three Frontier Corps vehicles and two motorbikes, allegedly subjected the men to physical assault before taking them away.

Of the five, three have been identified as Siraj son of Pir Mohammad, Waseem son of Lal Mohammad, and Waheed son of Murad. The identities of the remaining two detainees have not yet been confirmed. Families claim the men have been missing since the operation.

Separately, in Karachi, the family of 26-year-old Sadiq Murad held a press conference at the Karachi Press Club demanding his immediate release. Relatives alleged that in the early hours of 23 August 2025, personnel from the Counter-Terrorism Department, along with police and plainclothes officers, forcibly entered their home in Malir’s Sadiq Village without presenting a warrant. They claimed that elders and children inside the house were assaulted before Murad was taken away.

Family members described him as an educated young man and the sole breadwinner of his household, stressing that he had no links to unlawful activities. They expressed frustration over what they see as silence from the courts and state institutions, and appealed to human rights groups, civil society, and the wider public to raise their voices against enforced disappearances.

For years, enforced disappearances have been reported across Balochistan, Karachi, and other parts of Pakistan, with families of missing persons continuing to stage protests, hunger strikes, and sit-ins in Quetta, Islamabad, and Karachi to demand accountability and the safe recovery of their loved ones.
