The Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) has expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the passing of Commander Basit Zehri, also known as Qazi, a founding member of the Baloch Liberation Army’s (BLA) Senior Command Council, and senior Baloch resistance figure Commander Malik Khan Mohammad Marri.
In an official statement issued by SRA spokesperson Sodho Sindhi, the organisation extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the Baloch Liberation Army, and the Baloch nation. The statement described Commander Basit Zehri as not only a vital asset to the Baloch struggle but also a valued comrade and ally of the Sindhi national resistance movement.
According to the statement, Commander Basit Zehri passed away on 26 June 2025 after a prolonged illness. His death, the SRA said, represents a major loss to both the Baloch resistance movement and the Sindhi struggle for self-determination. Known for his exceptional expertise in urban guerrilla warfare, Commander Basit was described as a guiding light for both Baloch and Sindhi resistance fighters.
The spokesperson noted with pride that Commander Basit had played an instrumental role in training numerous Sindhi fighters under the SRA platform in areas such as urban guerrilla tactics, intelligence, and resistance networking. His contributions were termed invaluable in strengthening inter-movement cooperation between Baloch and Sindhi revolutionary groups.
Recalling the reorganisation of the Baloch Liberation Army under the leadership of the late General Ustad Aslam Baloch in 2018, the SRA stated that Commander Basit played a key revolutionary role during that critical period. His involvement in bridging and supporting Sindh’s national movement would, the SRA said, never be forgotten.
The spokesperson also paid tribute to Commander Malik Khan Mohammad Marri, another veteran figure of the Baloch resistance, whose recent passing was described as equally tragic. The statement highlighted that his struggle began under the leadership of Nawab Khair Bakhsh Marri and remained consistent with the principles of Baloch national resistance throughout his life.
In particular, the SRA commended Commander Marri’s decision in 2018 to break ranks with tribal elites and stand shoulder to shoulder with the youth and General Aslam Baloch during the formation of a new organisational structure of the BLA. His unwavering commitment, courage, and principled life were held up as a source of inspiration not only for the Baloch but also for all oppressed nations.
Concluding its message, the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army extended its sympathies to the families of both commanders, the Baloch Liberation Army, and the entire Baloch nation, honouring the two fallen figures with a famous verse by Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai:
“Wadha taaliyan tin jaa, jee maarag munja maran.”
Translation: “Blessed are those who give their lives on the path of love.”
