Several people were reportedly forcibly disappeared from Dera Bugti and Kech districts of Balochistan on Tuesday, The Balochistan Post has learned.

According to reports, A military operation is underway in Dera Bugti since yesterday. During this operation, Pakistani forces allegedly forcibly arrested several people and shifted them to an unknown location in the Sui area of Dera Bugti.

Seven of the detainees have been identified as Dost Ali son of Dostain Bugti, Balach son of Shamoor Bugti, Dilshad son of Abid Hussain, Yaseen son of Ghulam Mustafa, Saleh son of Hazar Khan, Yousuf son of Zahoor and Popal son of Lal Baksh. While several of them remain unidentified.

Local sources state that throughout the time of the military operation, forces have ransacked the houses and tortured the residents.

In another incident, in Balochistan’s Turbat city of Kech district Pakistani forces allegedly detained another man after the arrest. Sources state that last night around 2:00 pm Pakistani military forces with three women officials encircled a house in the Meeri Bag area of the city, Iqbal son of Allah Dad.

The family sources said that forces also took away three mobile phones and a motorcycle during the raid.

It is pertinent to mention that Balochistan is witnessing a surge in cases of forced disappearances in a few days. Too many people reportedly went missing in the half of May. Taking into account the report on the situation of missing persons, TBP continued to tell its audience that more than 55,000 people are allegedly missing all over Balochistan. Families of the victims, United Nations, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International have accused Pakistani law-enforcement forces and its intelligence agencies of these extrajudicial detentions.
