The final resting place of the Taliban’s supreme leader Mullah Muhammad Omar was revealed by the Afghan Taliban. Taliban revealed the final resting place of their leader with the media on Sunday.

According to reports, The Afghan Taliban revealed the final resting place of the known Taliban movement’s founder, Mullah after at least nine years. The Taliban supreme leader’s death and place of burial were kept secret for years. 

Rumors surrounding Omar’s health and whereabouts abounded after the Taliban were ousted in 2001 and they only admitted in April 2015 that he had died two years earlier.

Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesperson told the media that senior Taliban leaders attended a ceremony at Mullah Omar’s gravesite earlier on Sunday in the Suri district of Zabul province.

Mullah Muhammad Omar was said to be the founder of the Taliban movement in Afghanistan in 1994.
