A politician from Punjab province was gunned down in Lalu Rain area of Qambar Shahdadkot district of Sindh, on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Rana Sakhawat Rajput. He was also a candidate for MNA by ruling party PTI, in previous elections.

Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) claimed the responsibility for the attack, saying “the SRA attacked a Pakistani Intelligence Agent and Punjabi Settler Rana Sakhawat Rajput in Qambar Shahdadkot”.

In the result of the attack Rana Sakhawat was killed and his nephew Zubair Rajput has been critically wounded, SRA spokesperson Sodho Sindhi claimed. He was the main local facilitator to run the Pakistani intelligence network in the area, he said.

The spokesperson further said that “Rajput was found involved in the abductions and martyrdoms of many Sindhi nationalist workers including JSQM worker Shaheed Waheed Lashari”.

“We pay national salute to ‘Shaheed Waheed Lashari’ on his martyrdom day today. SRA Warns all outsider settlers to leave Sindh,” statement read.

In the statement, the group also vowed to continue its resistance struggle till complete freedom of Sindh.
