Three coal miners were killed in a firing incident in Marwar area of Balochistan’s capital city Quetta, on Tuesday.
According to Police sources, unidentified armed men opened fire on coal miners in Marwar. All three coal miners were dead on the spot, the attackers managed to escape from the scene unhurt.
Police shifted the dead bodies of the victims to civil hospital Quetta for postmortem. According to a senior police official, the incident seems to be a targeted killing.
The deceased miners were identified as Hidayat ur Rehman, Gul Hakeem and Abdul Wakeel. The miners belonged to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
Marwar and Sorange areas of Quetta house rich coal mines. Thousands of miners from Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa, Afghanistan and some parts of Balochistan have been extracting coal from mines for a long time.
