At least four members of an armed organisation have been killed during an armed confrontation with Pakistani forces.

Early on Sunday, an air operation in Punjgur resulted in the death of at least four members of a Baloch armed organisation. Armed persons belonging to Balochistan Liberation Front were sieged in Parom, Panjgur by Pakistani forces at 3am.

The armed persons pushed a resistance which lasted for 12 hours. Later, military helicopters were summoned which bombarded the marketplace that led to the death of the armed persons.

According to the reports received by The Balochistan Post, the armed confrontation between the BLF members and the Pakistani military started at 3am. The military was also assisted by the state-backed armed groups, locally known as “death squads”. The battle lasted 12 hours and ended with the death of the four militants. There are also reports of casualties suffered by Pakistani military and its allied groups.

The four deceased belonged to the armed organization BLF. They have now been identified as Noor Ahmed s/o Sher Dil, Momin s/o M. Azam, and two brothers, A. Malik and Nawaz, sons of Ghulam Hussain.

According to local sources, Pakistani forces surrounded the group in a Punjgur locality. However, due to the heavy resistance, Pakistani security forces and the local death squad had to retreat. On Sunday evening, military choppers were summoned that heavily bombarded the area resulting in the death of four members of BLF.

Different Baloch leaders and organisations have paid tribute to their fallen comrades.

Bashir Zeb Baloch, the leader of Balochistan Liberation Army, also paid tribute and said in a tweet: “I pay homage to Martyr Noora alias Peerak. He was an exceptional individual with extraordinary leadership qualities. Noora played a vital role in uniting Baloch forces and for the formation of BRAS, and continued to strengthen the umbrella org until his last. The courageous warrior’s earnest contributions and now the ultimate sacrifice will be a guiding light for all freedom fighters.”

Wahid Qambar Baloch, another Baloch leader, expressed his views by stating that, “I pay tribute to the Martyrs of Parom for sacrificing their lives in the struggle for freedom.” He further stated that “The martyrs preferred fighting instead of surrendering before the enemy. Their valour, struggle for national freedom, and sacrifice are beacons of hope for the youth.”

The spokesman for the Baloch Republican Guardian, Dostain Baloch, also issued a public statement where he paid tribute to the “martyrs”. He stated that “The historical resistance shown by the martyrs against state occupation will always be remembered.” He further added that “The intrusive forces and their accomplice – dreaming to subvert the resistance – must remember that [such] martyrdoms will increase the momentum of the resistance, not vice versa, because the Baloch are practising the philosophy of ‘Watan or Kafan’ (Land or Death).”
