At least seven people were killed and 25 others wounded on Sunday afternoon in Kabul city when a suicide bomber targeted Ahmad Shah Massoud supporters.
Kabul police chief spokesman Hashmat Stanekzai said the suicide bomber was riding in a motorcycle when he detonated his explosives among the supporters, TOLOnews reported.
According to the news agency, the attack happened in Taimani in Kabul city while a convoy of Massoud supporters in cars and on motorcycles were driving through the area.
The explosion happened after National Directorate of Security (NDS) officers gunned down another suicide bomber near the United States embassy in Kabul before he could detonate his explosives among a group of Massoud supporters.
September 9 is the death anniversary of Ahmad Shah Massoud, the national hero of Afghanistan, who was assassinated by two insurgents posing as journalists in Takhar province in 2001.
