The United Baloch Army (UBA) said on Wednesday that its fighters killed three Pakistani military personnel and injured several others in an attack on a convoy in Harnai, as separate armed attacks were also reported in Dalbandin, Kharan and Panjgur.
In a statement sent to the media, UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said the group’s fighters attacked a two-vehicle Pakistani military convoy with automatic weapons at around 9 a.m. in the Dalujal area of Spin Tangi, Harnai.
The spokesperson said the convoy was ambushed as it advanced towards military posts that had been vacated some time earlier, adding that three personnel were killed at the scene and several others injured.
Intense clashes subsequently broke out between the two sides and continued for around an hour, according to the statement. The UBA said the Pakistani military personnel later retreated from the area.
Separately, armed fighters set fire to the Talaran police checkpost in Dalbandin early on Wednesday after taking control of the post and detaining the personnel stationed there.
Dalbandin police officials said between 18 and 20 fighters attacked the checkpost at around 3:30 a.m. The post is located approximately 65 kilometres northeast of Dalbandin in Chagai district.
Police said the fighters poured petrol inside the checkpost’s rooms and buildings before setting them ablaze, adding that the detained personnel were later released. The attackers also seized a government-issued weapon and a government vehicle.
In Kharan, armed fighters targeted a Pakistani military convoy near the city on Tuesday evening. Local sources said at least three military vehicles came under direct fire, adding that around 10 Pakistani military personnel were killed or injured.
Meanwhile, in the Parom area of Panjgur, armed fighters set fire to a vehicle carrying rations for Pakistani forces and seized another vehicle, sources said.
In a separate incident at Mashkel Kaur in Panjgur’s Chedgi area, fighters reportedly destroyed surveillance cameras installed by Pakistani forces.
No group had claimed responsibility for the attacks in Dalbandin, Kharan and Panjgur at the time of publication. Pakistani authorities had not responded to the UBA’s claims or confirmed the reported casualties in Harnai and Kharan.
