The family of Asma Jattak has renewed its call for justice, protection and accountability, expressing concern over what it describes as a lack of progress in investigations linked to a series of violent incidents involving the family.
In a statement, the family said the abduction of Asma Jattak, followed by the killings of six people from the family at different times, and the continued freedom of those suspected of involvement, had raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the investigation and the response of authorities.
The case has drawn significant public attention in Balochistan since February 2025, when Asma Jattak, a resident of Khuzdar, was reportedly abducted after her family reportedly refused a marriage proposal. Following months of uncertainty, Asma later appeared in a video in which she appealed for justice and accused individuals, mainly Zahoor Jamalzai, she said were responsible for her abduction. The case subsequently became the subject of public debate, protests and calls for legal action from political and human rights activists.
According to the family’s latest statement, a number of relatives have since been killed in separate incidents, including Asma’s father, who was shot dead on 5 August 2026. The family said the repeated attacks had left them living in fear and uncertainty.
The family questioned why, despite repeated incidents, no conclusive action had been taken against those responsible. They said that while public concern and accountability are often demanded after violent incidents, they felt their case had not received the same level of response.
Following the killing of Asma’s father, the Government of Balochistan reportedly took notice of the incident and sought two days to arrest those responsible. The family stated that more than a month had passed since then, yet the suspects remained at large and were allegedly continuing to issue threats.

The statement further noted that on 8 August 2026, a committee was reportedly formed to investigate the matter and submit a report within 15 days. However, according to the family, neither they nor the wider public have received any clear information regarding the committee’s findings.
The family also said they had approached authorities at various levels but continued to feel unheard. According to information they had received, no senior government representative had visited them to discuss their concerns or provide updates regarding the investigation.
Raising broader questions about the case, the family asked whether those accused had become so influential that state institutions were unable to act against them, or whether other factors were preventing progress. They said only a transparent and credible investigation could answer such questions.
The statement also expressed concern regarding Asma Jattak’s reported mental and emotional well-being following her abduction and the subsequent killings within the family. The family called for protection, support and access to professional care if needed.
Addressing the Government of Pakistan, the Government of Balochistan, law-enforcement agencies, intelligence institutions, civil society organisations, religious scholars and tribal elders, the family urged all relevant stakeholders to intervene before further violence occurs.
They emphasised that their appeal was not a call for revenge or violence, but a demand for justice, protection, accountability and the rule of law. The family warned that delays in addressing the case could increase the risk of further harm and called for immediate and transparent action by the authorities.
No official response to the family’s latest statement had been issued at the time of publication.
