The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has accused Pakistani state institutions and the judiciary of using the justice system to target its detained leadership through fabricated cases, secret trials and continuous legal harassment.
In a statement, the BYC said its leaders, including Dr Mahrang Baloch, Bebarg Baloch, Sibghatullah Shahji, Beebow Baloch and Gulzadi Baloch, had been “unjustly detained” for 16 months and were facing more than 50 cases.
The committee said the legal process had been “entirely compromised”, adding that its leaders had been subjected to more than a month of what it described as faceless and secret trials inside an anti-terrorism court.
It said that after the leaders boycotted the proceedings, state-appointed lawyers were imposed on them without their consent, and Dr Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shahji were sentenced to life imprisonment on what the statement called “baseless charges”.
The BYC also pointed to a fresh case against Gulzadi Baloch, saying FIR No. 10/2026 was registered against her on April 24, 2026, under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 over a TikTok video.
The statement said the FIR itself acknowledged that Gulzadi Baloch was already in judicial custody in Mach Jail, adding that filing cybercrime charges against a detained woman over a video allegedly uploaded by an unknown person was a “desperate and baseless tactic to pile on endless charges”.
“This is no longer a standard legal dispute; it is a coordinated campaign of judicial oppression,” the BYC said.
The committee said it had no confidence in a system where, according to it, higher courts dismissed urgent pleas regarding judicial bias and severe sentences were issued shortly afterwards.
“We will not be silenced by this judicial tyranny,” it said.
The BYC called on the international community and human rights organisations to take notice of the situation in Balochistan. It demanded an end to secret trials and the unconditional release of all BYC leaders.
There was no immediate official response to the BYC statement.
