A planned visit by US Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for potential talks on Iran has been postponed, amid uncertainty over the next phase of negotiations, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday, citing a US official.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said President Donald Trump could still change his decision at any moment.

He said Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner were expected to arrive in Washington on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the next course of action.

The official declined to predict developments if the current ceasefire ends without further talks in Islamabad, but noted that Trump has several options available without resuming airstrikes.

The postponement comes as Iran has yet to make a final decision on participating in the negotiations.

Earlier, a White House official said Vance, who had been expected to lead the US delegation in talks with Iran in Pakistan, remained in Washington to attend policy meetings.

“Additional policy meetings are taking place at the White House, which the Vice President will attend,” the official said.

Recent reports had indicated that Vance’s departure was scheduled for Tuesday morning.
