At least seven individuals, including a student, have reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance in separate incidents linked to Panjgur and Karachi, according to local sources and a human rights organization. Residents and rights advocates say the cases reflect a continuing pattern targeting Baloch youths amid ongoing security operations.
Sources said Pakistani forces conducted a raid in Pulabad, an area of Panjgur, in recent days, detaining at least six individuals during house searches. Witnesses reported that homes were searched and several people were taken to undisclosed locations. Two of those detained were identified as Inayat and Rasheed, while the identities of the remaining detainees have not yet been confirmed.
In a separate incident, 23-year-old Zulfiqar s/o Hameed, a resident of Tasp in Panjgur, was reportedly taken into custody on February 13, 2026, from Tasp Bazaar. Local sources alleged that he was detained by individuals described as a state-backed armed group, locally known as a “death squad.” His whereabouts remain unknown.
Meanwhile, the enforced disappearance of a Baloch student has drawn concern from the human rights organization Paank. In a statement, the group said Zakir Noor, a student from Panjgur, was detained in Karachi on December 30, 2025, by personnel identified as state forces without a warrant or legal justification. According to the organization, Noor has not been seen or heard from since his detention.
Paank warned that Noor’s transfer to an undisclosed location could place his life at risk and described the detention as a violation of fundamental human rights protections under international law, particularly safeguards against enforced disappearance and arbitrary detention.
The organization further claimed that cases involving the disappearance of Baloch students and young people have increased in recent months, especially in major urban centres such as Karachi. Authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
