Pakistani armed forces have intensified search operations in various areas of Noshki, with a curfew continuing across the town, according to local sources.
Reports from Noshki said a large number of security personnel have been deployed in the area, with residents instructed to remain inside their homes and businesses ordered to stay closed. Armoured vehicles and tanks have been positioned at several locations in the town as part of the operation.
Local sources reported that late on Monday night, security forces carried out house-to-house searches in the Ahmed Wal area of Noshki. During the raids, mobile phones and household items were reportedly checked, and residents were questioned about the whereabouts of Bashir Zeb Baloch, identified as the chief of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).
Ahmed Wal is described as the ancestral area of Bashir Zeb Baloch. A day earlier, security forces reportedly demolished his ancestral house in the same area using explosives. Separately, another house in the Qazi Abad area of Noshki was also destroyed with explosives. Local residents said the property belonged to Haji Abdul Samad, who died in an accident in 2009, and had remained unoccupied for several years as his family has been living in Gulf countries.
Former Balochistan Assembly speaker and political figure Waheed Baloch reacted to the demolitions in a statement posted on social media. He criticised the actions of the Pakistani forces, describing the demolition of houses as an attempt to conceal what he termed a political and psychological setback.
Security operations in Noshki follow events on 31 January, when the BLA announced the launch of what it called “Operation Herof” and claimed to have taken control of the town, along with other districts. The group said it maintained control of Noshki for six days before announcing the end of the operation, claiming that several military camps and an ISI facility were targeted and that dozens of security personnel were killed.
Following the BLA’s announcement of the operation’s conclusion, additional security forces were deployed to Noshki. Local sources have also reported arrests and alleged enforced disappearances during the ongoing operations, though no official confirmation has been issued.
Pakistani authorities have not released an official statement regarding the raids, demolitions or the reported arrests.
