Thousands of people have left their homes in two areas of Balochistan’s Gwadar district, local sources said, with villages emptied and families seeking shelter in nearby cities as authorities offer no explanation for the departures.
Residents of Sardasht and Kulanch in Pasni tehsil have moved to Pasni, Gwadar and Turbat, leaving behind agricultural land, homes and livestock, the sources said.
Residents had previously abandoned agricultural land in Shadi Kaur, another area of Pasni, and moved elsewhere.
The reasons for the latest departures have not been established. Local sources said authorities had avoided explaining the displacement, while families feared discussing the circumstances with the media.
Meanwhile, Pasni police have instructed residents hosting displaced families to visit the police station and submit their complete details.
The displacement follows reports of families leaving Zamuran in neighbouring Kech district under military restrictions, alongside evacuation orders in other parts of Balochistan ahead of planned military operations.
Earlier this month, residents of Chur and Geshtardan in Zamuran said tighter military checkpoints, movement restrictions and drone surveillance had forced families to leave their ancestral homes.
They said Pakistani forces were recording household food supplies and preventing travel to Buleda after sunset, including for medical needs, adding that appeals to elected representatives had brought no effective intervention.
Separately, the Kalat district administration has ordered residents of Shoor Paarod and Gazg to leave by September 28, citing the “law-and-order situation”.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti told the Balochistan Assembly earlier this month that around 1,000 residents of the mountainous Shoor Paarod area would be relocated and resettled elsewhere ahead of a military operation.
Residents of Killi Batto, Killi Ahmed Wal, Killi Harooni and Killi Jorkain in Noshki, as well as areas of Mastung, have also been ordered to vacate their homes for two months.
