A Baloch armed group said on Thursday it had bombed a train in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province the previous night, the latest in a series of railway attacks claimed by the group.
The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) said its fighters planted an explosive on the railway track near Ranipur in Khairpur district and detonated it remotely as a train travelling from Karachi towards Punjab passed.
The group said the blast damaged the train and railway track. There was no immediate confirmation from Pakistani authorities of the attack, the extent of the damage or any casualties.
The BRG has repeatedly claimed attacks on trains and railway infrastructure in Balochistan and Sindh.
Last week, it said fighters attacked the Jaffar Express and three vehicles deployed for its security near Notal in Balochistan’s Naseerabad district.
In its annual report for 2025, the BRG said 13 of the 88 attacks it claimed during the year targeted trains or railway tracks. It said 10 involved the Jaffar Express, Bolan Mail or Sukkur Express, while three targeted railway tracks.
