Unknown armed assailants torched construction machinery in Balochistan’s Dasht area, and an explosion damaged a bridge on a China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road in Panjgur district on Wednesday, officials said.

Local officials said armed men on motorcycles opened fire on a road roller working on the Shakro–Tolagi route in Dasht, disabling the vehicle before setting it ablaze. No casualties were reported, and the attackers fled the scene.

Burned construction machinery in Dasht

Meanwhile, a blast damaged part of a bridge over the Rakhshan River on a CPEC-linked road in Panjgur. Residents said the explosion was powerful and heard in nearby areas. Pakistani forces cordoned off the site and launched a search operation.

District officials said traffic was briefly suspended but later partially restored, adding that a technical team was assessing the cause of the blast and the extent of the damage.

No group had claimed responsibility for either incident at the time of publication. Construction companies and CPEC-related infrastructure have been attacked in the past by Baloch armed groups, who accuse such projects of being exploitative.
