Reports of enforced disappearances continued to emerge from Balochistan and Karachi, with two individuals, including a minor student, allegedly taken into custody by security personnel, while the son of a senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader was released after months of detention.
According to local sources, a 17-year-old student, Ameer s/o Jasim Wali Dad, a resident of Baloch Abad Mand in Kech district, was allegedly detained on December 19, 2025, at around 6pm from Karachi’s Lyari area near Aath Chowk. Family members claimed that personnel from Military Intelligence (MI) and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) took the teenager away. They said no information regarding his whereabouts had been provided since, leaving the family deeply concerned.
In a separate incident, a young man identified as Kaleemullah s/o Haji Asadullah, a resident of Khudabadan, Panjgur, was allegedly forcibly taken from his home in Allahabad Town, Hub Chowki, at around 2am by unidentified individuals. Family sources said Kaleemullah’s whereabouts remained unknown despite efforts to trace him through various official channels, expressing serious concern over his safety.
The families of both individuals have demanded their immediate recovery and called for transparent investigations into the circumstances of their alleged disappearances. They also appealed to the public, civil society organisations and human rights groups to raise their voices against such incidents.
Meanwhile, Yusuf Ali Qalandaran s/o Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Qalandarani was released and returned home safely, according to close sources. Yusuf Ali had reportedly been taken into custody from Karachi on August 17 last year and was later detained at Khuzdar Jail under the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO) ordinance. His release was confirmed on Thursday.
Human rights circles have expressed concern over the continuing reports of enforced disappearances across the province and in Karachi, reiterating calls for missing persons to be produced before courts and for authorities to adhere to constitutional and legal safeguards.
