Government employees in Balochistan have announced a pen-down strike starting Monday (today), demanding the acceptance of their longstanding grievances, including the payment of a Disparity Reduction Allowance.
In a statement, Ali Asghar Bangulzai, General Secretary of the Balochistan Grand Alliance, said the protest movement had entered its second phase due to what he described as the “government’s apathy and incompetence”.
He said all organizations affiliated with the alliance would observe a pen-down strike today, which would be followed by a complete lockdown of government institutions across Balochistan on 30 and 31 December.
Bangulzai added that emergency services in the health department would remain operational during the protest.
