The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has alleged that a young man identified as Muhammad Alam s/o Mola Bakhsh was shot and killed by what it described as “state-backed armed groups” near the Mashkay bypass road in Giresha, Khuzdar. According to the committee, he was travelling to visit his in-laws when masked gunmen opened fire on him, resulting in his death at the scene.
Eyewitnesses cited by the committee claimed that the attackers were part of armed groups believed to be operating under the oversight of Pakistani security forces. They said Muhammad Alam was deliberately targeted. According to the BYC, he was the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes a disabled brother, an elderly father and young children.
The BYC stated that the killing reflects a wider pattern of what it describes as extrajudicial violence, enforced disappearances and systematic intimidation in Balochistan. The committee said such incidents continue to heighten insecurity among residents and underscore the severity of the human rights situation in the region.
