Authorities in Mastung report that Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Muhammad Yousuf Reki has gone missing while travelling from Noshki to Mastung.
According to officials, SDPO Reki was en route between Saturday and Sunday night when his mobile phone was switched off. Since then, neither his family nor colleagues have been able to contact him.
Pakistani security forces have established multiple checkpoints in the area and launched a search operation to locate the missing officer.
The incident comes amid a noticeable rise in abductions of senior police and government officials in Balochistan in recent months.
Earlier, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rafiq Hamza Mengal went missing near Surab but was recovered a few days later. In August, Assistant Commissioner Afzal Baqi of Ziarat was abducted along with his son by unidentified armed men; his son was later released, but Baqi remains missing.
In June, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a pro-independence Baloch armed group, abducted Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hanif Noorzai near Kech district during an operation. The officer was later released after the group concluded what it described as an internal investigation.
