At least eight Pakistani soldiers have been killed and 14 others injured in two separate attacks by suspected Taliban-affiliated militants in the Ghunda Mela area of Orakzai district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Local reports said more than 150 armed fighters launched two consecutive attacks targeting military personnel stationed in the region. The clashes reportedly lasted for nearly eight hours.
Pakistan’s military claimed to have killed at least three attackers in retaliatory fire and said a military vehicle seized during the fighting had been recovered.
Orakzai district, located in northwestern Pakistan near the Afghan border, has witnessed periodic attacks by militant groups, particularly those affiliated with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
