Two Baloch “pro-independence” armed groups have claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks targeting state-linked infrastructure and personnel in Balochistan and Sindh, resulting in casualties, injuries, and major disruption to railway operations.

According to a statement issued by Sarbaz Baloch, spokesperson for the Baloch Republican Army (BRA), the group’s fighters carried out attacks on Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) personnel in the Darenjan and Gazi areas of Sui tehsil, Dera Bugti district. The attacks, involving rockets and heavy weapons, reportedly killed three OGDCL employees and injured four others. The BRA also claimed to have taken four more workers into their custody.

The BRA said their fighters also torched machinery being used for gas exploration at both sites, declaring the operations as “exploitative” and “illegitimate.”

In a separate development, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for a remote-controlled explosion that targeted the Jaffar Express near Jacobabad. The blast caused six carriages of the Quetta-bound passenger train to derail. No casualties were reported, though a deep crater formed at the explosion site and rail services were disrupted. Security forces cordoned off the area following the incident.

The BRG, through spokesperson Dostain Baloch, claimed the Jaffar Express was targeted because it is allegedly used by the Pakistani military for troop movement. He warned that future attacks would escalate in severity.

Dostain Baloch also confirmed BRG responsibility for another attack in Chagai district, where fighters opened fire on a vehicle transporting containers for the Reko Diq mining project near the Yakmach area. The vehicle sustained serious damage, though there were no immediate reports of casualties.

Both groups asserted that their attacks are part of an ongoing armed resistance campaign aimed at securing Balochistan’s independence.
