Large-scale protests led by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) were held in Panjgur on May 15, 2025, as part of a broader campaign against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the unlawful arrests of Baloch political leaders. The rally, which began at Tasp Star Chowk, drew significant participation from local citizens, including women and children.

The demonstration was organised in response to what BYC describes as escalating state repression and ongoing “Baloch genocide.” Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans demanding the immediate release of all forcibly disappeared persons and an end to human rights violations in Balochistan. The BYC stated that these protests are part of a sustained movement, with upcoming demonstrations planned in Turbat, Mastung, and Kharan.

In a statement released today, the BYC’s central spokesperson strongly criticised the Balochistan High Court and provincial government, accusing them of deliberately delaying justice in the case of several detained leaders, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, central leader Sibghatullah Shahji, Bebarg Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, Beebow Baloch, and Mama Ghafar Baloch.

According to the statement, the case has been heard for the past two months by the same two-member bench, while government lawyers have failed to provide any substantial justification for the detentions under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO). Despite this, the bench has not delivered a verdict, even after reserving judgment on May 13.

“This is not a complex legal case,” the spokesperson said. “Every hearing has made it clear that the state has no evidence, yet the bench continues to withhold a decision. This is a clear attempt to prolong the unlawful detention of Baloch leaders through legal delay tactics.”

The BYC emphasised that its resistance remains peaceful and rooted in lawful protest, but warned that if the detentions continue without resolution, the ongoing movement will escalate. “We have already launched a new phase of our protest campaign from May 15. If the state continues to obstruct justice, we will intensify our struggle and use our political strength to confront this oppressive system.”

The organisation urged the people of Balochistan to remain united and break their silence against oppression. “The sacrifices of the Baloch nation will not be in vain. Our movement against enforced disappearances, violence, and subjugation will continue until justice prevails.”
