Senior lawyer, senator, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Kamran Murtaza has warned that the political situation in Balochistan is deteriorating rapidly, cautioning Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti that events may soon spiral out of his control.

Speaking to reporters outside the High Court, Mr Murtaza said, “The game is slipping very quickly from Sarfraz Bugti’s hands.”

He urged the government to initiate dialogue to resolve the growing unrest, revealing that he had proposed a peaceful solution regarding the detention of rights activist Dr Mahrang Baloch. However, he said his proposal was ignored.

“I had given a proposal regarding Dr Mahrang Baloch’s issue, but unfortunately, it was not accepted,” he said.

Commenting further on the crisis, Mr Murtaza warned that Chief Minister Bugti could face serious political consequences.

“The biggest loss will be to Sarfraz Bugti himself—he risks losing his chief ministership and his grip on regional politics,” he said.

Mr Murtaza expressed support for Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal, whose party has been staging protests over the detention of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) activists and recent police crackdowns.

He concluded by advising Mr Bugti to act with caution and maturity.

“It is better that he recognize the gravity of the situation and act wisely—otherwise, he will be proven inexperienced,” Mr Murtaza said.
