The family of Chakar Bugti held a press conference at the Lasbela Press Club, urging authorities to ensure his safe recovery. They expressed their anguish over the ongoing issue of enforced disappearances, stating that such practices inflict unbearable suffering on entire families.

According to the family, Chakar Bugti s/o Arz Muhammad, was forcibly disappeared on November 15. Before his disappearance, Chakar was detained by SHO Saud Durrani of the City Police Station in Hub Chowki, allegedly on the pretext of verifying the documents for his newly purchased motorcycle. Despite providing the required documents, Chakar was held at the station for several hours.

When Chakar was eventually released, a vehicle with tinted windows parked outside the station followed him. CCTV footage revealed the vehicle waiting outside the police station. As Chakar and three companions made their way home, they were intercepted and abducted near the Toyota Company on RC Road.

The family accused SHO Saud Durrani of orchestrating Chakar’s disappearance. They pointed out that Chakar’s motorcycle remains at the police station, further implicating Durrani in the illegal act. When the family repeatedly inquired at the station, they were met with threats. The SHO allegedly told them, “Find Chakar wherever he is; he’s not here.”

Two days after the abduction, the family staged a sit-in near Bhawani, where an official, Imam Baloch, assured them that the missing persons would be recovered within two days. However, those two days have stretched into months, with no sign of Chakar Bugti or two other family members who were allegedly abducted under police supervision.

The family demanded immediate action against SHO Saud Durrani and the intelligence agencies involved. They decried the disappearances as unlawful and inhumane, urging higher authorities and the judiciary to intervene.

The family warned that if Chakar Bugti and the other missing individuals are not released within 48 hours, they will escalate their protests to the streets. They held the police and other implicated institutions directly responsible for any untoward incidents that may arise.
