The sit-in protest against the enforced disappearance of Nauman Ishaq entered its second day in front of the GT Gate in Gwadar.
Speaking at the sit-in, Nauman’s brother stated that Nauman was forcibly taken by Pakistani forces on November 27, 2024, from Dhoriya Tyab Dip in Gwadar. He emphasized that the family had previously appealed to the courts and authorities, urging them to bring Nauman to light and present him in court if he is accused of any crime.
He vowed that the protest would continue until Nauman is recovered, warning that the demonstration would intensify if their demands were not met.
The sit-in attracted a significant number of women and elderly participants, who called for an end to enforced disappearances. They urged the Baloch community to unite and raise their voices against such oppression.
On Sunday, a protest rally was also held in Gwadar, where a large number of people, including women and children, participated. Demonstrators chanted slogans against enforced disappearances and demanded Nauman’s recovery.
Addressing the rally, Nauman’s brother questioned the authorities, asking what crime his brother had committed, and criticized the use of courts that could convene in the dead of night for others but remained unavailable for victims of enforced disappearances.
He had issued a stern ultimatum, stating that if Nauman was not released by the end of the day, the family would resort to intensified street protests, which would not be favorable for the authorities.
Negotiations between the protesters and the administration during the sit-in failed, with the families announcing plans to march towards the CPEC road after continuing their demonstration overnight at the GT Gate.
