At least 10 security personnel were killed and several others injured in an alleged militant attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The incident took place on Thursday night in the Darazinda subdivision, targeting the Zam checkpost manned by FC Mehsud Scouts.

According to local police and civil administration officials, the attack was reportedly so intense that most of the personnel were killed on the spot, including a junior commissioned officer. Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the number of injured, but authorities have so far confirmed the names of three wounded personnel.

Local sources said the checkpost is located near the Aman Mela ground.

As of now, no statement has been released by the military’s media wing, ISPR, nor has any militant group claimed responsibility for the attack. However, officials suspect the involvement of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its associated groups in the assault.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur expressed sorrow over the deaths of the FC personnel and condemned the attack. In a government statement, he called for a report on the incident from senior police officials, labeling the attack as a “cowardly act.” He emphasized that such incidents would not demoralize the security forces.

In a related development, alleged militants reportedly opened fire on a police station in the Mulagori area near Warsak Dam in Khyber District, killing one police officer. Meanwhile, in Bannu, police personnel successfully repelled another militant attack on the Baka Khel police station, forcing the attackers to flee after an exchange of fire on Thursday night.
