Five miners have died after being trapped in a coal mine filled with poisonous gas in the Shahrag area of Harnai, Balochistan.
The victims have been identified as Mataullah, Rahman Shah, Zabihullah, Shafaullah, and Naseebullah, all of whom were from Afghanistan. One miner, Khan Muhammad, was rescued alive from the site.
It is important to note that dozens of coal mining projects are currently operating in Balochistan, where thousands of workers from both Balochistan and other regions have been victims of similar accidents on various occasions.
Labor unions and organizations advocating for workers’ rights in these coal mines attribute the frequent accidents to inadequate facilities and the use of substandard materials provided to the workers.
