A Pakistani soldier was killed during a clash with Afghan forces along the Durand Line in Balochistan’s Noshki district on Sunday, according to local officials.

The skirmish reportedly began when personnel from the Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) 102 Wing, Noshki Militia, were sent to repair a damaged section of the border fence near Tower No. 6 at the Gaznali check post.

As the Pakistani troops approached the area, they allegedly came under fire from Afghan forces positioned on the other side of the border.

Subedar Tariq Iqbal, 27, was shot in the abdomen during the exchange, which lasted nearly an hour.

Subedar Iqbal was critically injured and later died from his wounds. His body was transported to his hometown in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Noshki Deputy Commissioner Amjad Hussain Soomro confirmed the incident but declined to provide further details.
