The South Korean chapter of the Baloch National Movement (BNM) organized a protest at Biff Square, demanding an end to what they describe as ‘state-sponsored’ oppression against the Baloch people.
During the demonstration, protestors distributed pamphlets to local residents, raising awareness about the ongoing crisis in Balochistan. The demonstrators expressed their frustration and anger, denouncing the Pakistani state for the widespread enforced disappearances and the unresolved cases of thousands of missing Baloch individuals, while also chanting anti-Pakistan slogans.
Bakhtawar Baloch, addressing the crowd, spoke of the Baloch people’s enduring fight against what she termed “Pakistani occupation,” which has lasted for seventy-five years. She highlighted the suppression and denial of self-determination rights, along with the severe brutality and tyranny inflicted by the Pakistani state from the outset.
She further condemned the alleged ‘genocide’ of the Baloch people by Pakistani forces, citing the forced disappearances of women, students, scholars, engineers, doctors, political and social workers, human rights activists, journalists, leaders, and even livestock herders, with thousands still unaccounted for.
Local South Koreans showed sympathy towards the Baloch cause, emphasizing the need for international recognition of the Baloch people’s suffering. Speakers such as Hafsa Baloch, Sameer Baloch, and Agha Faiz also took the stage to denounce the treatment of the Baloch people by the Pakistani state.
The rally concluded with participants marching through Biff Square, continuing to chant slogans.
