Several Iranian Policemen were reportedly killed in an attack on the Iranian Police station in the Rask area of Western (Iran-administrated) Balochistan on Friday.

According to Iranian state TV, at least 11 people were killed and several others injured when suspected members of a “pro-independence” group opened fire on a police station in southeastern Iran.

Ali Reza Marmati, deputy governor of Sistan and Baluchistan, said senior police officers and soldiers were killed and wounded in the attack that took place at 2 AM in Rask Town, located about 1,400 kilometers southwest of Tehran.

Syed Majid Mir Ahmadi, the interior ministry’s head of security and police affairs, told the media that the terrorists blocked the roads leading to the police station to prevent the arrival of backup forces. He added that one terrorist had been captured alive, two were killed on the spot while the rest escaped.

Faris quoted a ministry official as saying that the terrorists took the bodies of terrorists with them.

The aforementioned attack was claimed by Islamist group Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice), according to state TV.

It pertained to mention that militants and small “pro-independence” groups have attacked police stations in recent months as part of a grassroots uprising against the government. In addition, Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for a suicide attack on a bus that killed 27 Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel in 2019.
