A formal request has been submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan, urging the postponement of the upcoming general elections in Balochistan.

According to reports, Advocate Fatima Nazar filed the petition with the Election Commission, emphasizing that the security situation in Balochistan has significantly deteriorated since the announcement of the general election date.

The petition explicitly highlights the surge in armed attacks within the Makran Division since the election schedule was disclosed. Incidents of targeted killings, improvised explosive device (IED) blasts, and suicide attacks have witnessed a notable escalation.

According to the petitioner, the last three months have seen a tragic toll of 32 lives lost in 61 armed incidents in Kech and Gwadar. Additionally, a considerable portion of the Balochistan population is grappling with transportation issues.

Advocate Fatima Nazar, in her plea to postpone the general elections, argues that the current circumstances make it impractical to achieve the desired voter turnout. Therefore, she advocates for a delay in the elections in Balochistan.
