In a series of statements released to the media, the Baloch Liberation Tigers (BLT) have claimed responsibility for recent acts of violence and disruption in the Dera Bugti district of Balochistan. Led by spokesman
BLT spokesman Miran Baloch said in a press release that on Thursday night, BLT fighters targeted Gas Well No. 41, located in the Pirkoh area of Dera Bugti, by placing explosives. This act resulted in the disruption of the gas supply to the plant. The group has taken responsibility for the destruction of the gas well, signaling their continued efforts to disrupt government operations in the region.
In addition to the destruction of the gas well, BLT operatives carried out two separate ambushes on Pakistani army personnel. These attacks occurred in the Jodir region of the Zain area in Dera Bugti. According to the group, six Pakistan army personnel lost their lives in these ambushes, and several others sustained injuries.
According to the BLT statement, further escalating their actions, BLT members, known as Sarmachars, blocked the main highway from Sui to Dera Bugti at Talimut. During this operation, they claimed to have detained two “state functionaries”, identified as Baz Muhammad and Niaz Ali. The motive behind their detention remains unclear, but it marks another instance of BLT’s activities in the region.
The BLT spokesman noted that the Pakistani army’s presence in Dera Bugti has created a tense and oppressive atmosphere, urging residents to stay safe and avoid any activities that might put them at risk.
Meanwhile, another armed group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has taken responsibility for the killing of alleged Pakistan army spy Balochistan’s Khuzdar district.
In a recent statement released to the media, BLA has claimed responsibility for the targeted killing of Zahoor Lotani, an individual alleged to be an important operative working for the Pakistani army in the Zehri Kahan area of Khuzdar.
Jeeyand Baloch, the spokesman for the group, issued a statement confirming that their fighters successfully executed Zahoor Lotani. “Lotani was a local cadre of the occupying Pakistani army, was shot and killed during the operation,” the group said.
According to Jeeyand Baloch, the slain individual, Zahoor Ahmed, son of Abdul Salam Lotani had been actively involved in what the BLA terms as “anti-national activities” for an extended period. “These activities were allegedly conducted under the patronage and support of the Pakistani army”, he added.
The BLA’s spokesman further claimed that Zahoor Ahmed Lotani had a significant role in the forced disappearance of Baloch youths in the Zehri area. He was also accused of participating in house raids, actions that have caused considerable concern and anger within the local Baloch community. Additionally, it was asserted by BLA that the Pakistani army had provided Lotani with leniency to engage in drug trafficking.
