The Measles infection broke out in the Kohlu district of Balochistan, where three young children of one family lost their lives.

According to locals, the Measles epidemic got out of control in Shahija-abad and the suburbs in Kohlu, due to which 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter of Lal Mohammad Mahajir died within two weeks.

According to Deputy Health Officer Kohlu, Dr. Attaullah Marri, two of the three children died from Measles on June 15 and 16 while the third died on Monday.

The health department teams conducted a three-day Measles campaign in the concerned area during which 118 children below the age of 15 years were vaccinated.

On the other hand, residents of the area say that there is a severe lack of health facilities in the remote areas of Kohlu, people are not able to reach distant hospitals. The Measles has spread out for the last two months, but no steps have been taken by the government in this regard, residents complained.

Locals said that the absence of health facilities was a matter of concern despite the fact that a Minister elected from Kohlu is sitting in the provincial cabinet.

They appealed to Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and other senior officials to provide medical teams, doctors, and medicines to control the measles epidemic in Kohlu immediately.
