Heavy rains and floods continued to lash many parts of Balochistan on Saturday. While, floods swept away 12 people in a tractor in Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district on Friday evening.

On Friday, heavy rains wreaked havoc in Tehsil Muslim Bagh of Qila Saifullah district, due to which several houses were damaged. 

As per reports, the alternative route for the Karachi-Quetta highway in Lunda river in Lasbela district was also washed away by floods. Due to which the land route from Quetta to Karachi was once again cut off.

Heavy rains continue in different areas of Balochistan including Quetta. According to the Meteorological Department, there were heavy rains in Lasbela, Barkhan, Dukki, Ziarat, Sanjavi and Chaman areas of Balochistan on Saturday.

The victims complain that the floods have destroyed entire villages while the PDMA and district administration have not yet started rescue operations in the affected areas. “The government should help the victims immediately,” they demanded. 

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) officials say that relief activities have been started in the affected areas after the recent rains.

According to the PDMA report, 6 more people lost their lives due to rains and floods late Friday night, taking the total number of rain-related deaths in Balochistan to 188.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Quddus Bizenjo took a notice of the situation and ordered the PDMA to step up efforts to support the flood-affected people.

At a press conference later in the day, Adviser to Balochistan Chief Minister on Home and Provincial Disaster Management Authority Mir Ziaullah Langove said that the highest amount of rainfall during the latest monsoon spell was reported in Northern parts of Balochistan.

Giving details of the damages, he revealed that agricultural land spread over 500,000 acres had been damaged, while over 40,000 houses across the province were reduced to rubble. “More than 2,100kms of national highways and 25 bridges were damaged during the monsoon rains,” he said.
