Police and young doctors clashed, at least 10 doctors were injured and 20 arrested in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan.

At least 10 young doctors were injured during the clash with police on Wednesday evening. The doctors wanted to enter the Red Zone near Chief Minister’s Secretariat when clashed with baton-wielding policemen.

“Police have used force against us and injured our 10 colleagues while arrested 20 more”, the Vice-President of Young Doctors Association (YDA) said.

According to the SSP Quetta, the police have arrested 20 protesting doctors. He said the doctors have been shifted to a nearby police station and legal action would be taken against them.

YDA has been protesting in support of its demands for last more than three months. It had also boycotted OPDs in all government-run hospitalsin Balochistan. However, recently, young doctors have established medical setups outside their wards in civil hospital Quetta for the treatment of outdoor patients.

YDA has shut down all emergency services in the Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) Hospital, Children’s Hospital Quetta and Civil Hospital on Wednesday evening. The protesting doctors closed down all emergency services in the aftermath of the arrest of 20 doctors and baton-charge by police.
