Dr. Murad Baloch, Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement has said that “Pakistan is preparing to send more troops to Balochistan under the cover of Corona virus to intensify the Baloch genocide. In such cases where doctors, medical staff, medicines, laboratories, test facilities and medicines are needed, Pakistan is dispatching convoys of gunmen and artillery. Thus, the outbreak is also being used as a weapon against Baloch people.”

He further stated “the brutality of Pakistan in Balochistan is nothing new. But whenever there is a natural calamity and pestilence in Balochistan, in the name of helping people, Pakistan increases its deployment to increase its barbarity. A devastating earthquake hit Awaran and Kech districts of Balochistan in 2013. With this pretext, Pakistan sent thousands of fresh troops to the affected areas and increased the intensity of military operations. The devastating acts of Pakistan caused many times more devastation in the affected areas. On one hand, where earthquake wrecks, and on the hand, hundreds of thousands were forced to migrate and hundreds went missing and killed.

In the reaction of deploying more military in the region, a Baloch leader expresses his concerns saying “the deployment of more troops in Balochistan is to terrorize the people”.

Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch, leader of a pro-independence organization, the Baloch Liberation Front, has called the deployment of more Pakistani troops in Balochistan dangerous.

Dr. Nazar Baloch said in his message on the micro-blogging website Twitter that the deployment of Pakistan army in nine districts of Balochistan for containing coronavirus is tantamount to terrorize Baloch people and expand military operations. Same tactics were used in 2013 earthquake.

“The victims are still living in the camps of Balochistan and Sindh. Several army brigades are already in Balochistan but what needed is ventilators, test kits and basic facilities for doctors”, he added.

According to the reports, military operations were being carried out in Zamran, Paganzan bazaar and surrounding areas in Kech district on Monday. The ground troops are participating in a large number of operations while they are receiving the support of two gunship helicopters.

The forces have surrounded the above mentioned areas and blocked the main thoroughfares. Government officials have not yet commented on this, while due to the closure of the communication system in the region, media is facing difficulties to access the news on time.
