Franch President said that Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan, asking them to resolve their differences over it through political dialogue and avoid aggravate tensions.

Indian Prime Minister is traveling to Paris for bilateral summit and subsequently as an invitee to Biarritz for the G-7 Summit. When he meets French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday evening near Paris for their summit, the French government is expected to extend support to India on the Kashmir issue and cross-border terror in the backdrop of their widening strategic partnership. Earlier, at the UNSC following the Pulwama terror attack in Kashmir, France had garnered support for India’s demand that Masood Azhar should be declared as a global terrorist, Economic Times reported.

Same remarks came from French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian’s on Tuesday, when Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called his French counterpart to discuss the situation in Kashmir after India revoked the special status for the Jammu and Kashmir.

Qureshi made contact with French counterpart after reports in media that France was not supportive of Pakistan during UN Security Council meeting on Kashmir.
