Two Baloch armed groups have claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in Balochistan and neighbouring Sindh, alleging casualties among Pakistani security personnel and damage to infrastructure.
In a statement issued to the media, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) said its fighters carried out 23 operations between July 30 and August 16 across Nushki, Surab, Chagai, Mashkay, Shadi Kaor, Buleda, Kharan, Tump, Mand, Khuzdar, Kalat and Jhaoo.
According to BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the operations targeted Pakistani military forces, Frontier Corps (FC), Military Intelligence (MI) facilities, security posts, police stations and government-backed armed groups. The organisation claimed that 29 security personnel were killed, several others wounded and two military vehicles destroyed during the reported attacks.
The group claimed that on August 16 its fighters attacked a military convoy in the Mal Kochal area of Nushki, killing four personnel and wounding two others, while two military vehicles were rendered inoperable.
The BLF also claimed responsibility for an ambush on an FC convoy in the Wadh area of Khuzdar on August 12, alleging that 12 personnel were killed and several others wounded. Another claimed attack targeted a military convoy in the Padag area of Surab on August 15, where the group said six personnel were killed and several others injured.
Among other incidents listed in the statement were attacks on security installations in Gomazi, Mashkay, Shadi Kaor, Buleda, Kharan, Tump, Mand, Manguchar and Jhaoo, as well as the reported temporary takeover of a police station in Yakmachh, Chagai. The group also claimed to have established temporary checkpoints in parts of Mand and Kharan and to have disrupted military movements in several areas.
Pakistani authorities had not issued a comprehensive response to the allegations at the time of publication.
Separately, the Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for an explosion targeting a railway track in Jacobabad district of Sindh.
In a statement, BRG spokesperson Dostain Baloch said the group’s fighters planted explosive materials near the Sim Branch area within the jurisdiction of Jacobabad Sadar Police Station and detonated them on the night of August 17.
According to the group, the explosion caused significant damage to the railway track. The authorities had not immediately commented on the reported incident.
Both groups stated that they accept responsibility for the attacks attributed to them and indicated that their armed campaigns would continue.
