Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, has alleged that Pakistani intelligence personnel conducted a raid on an apartment near his Karachi residence late on Thursday night, detaining several individuals.

In a statement, Mengal said the apartment had been rented to accommodate members of his staff. According to him, personnel involved in the operation confiscated mobile phones belonging to those present and subjected them to physical abuse.

Mengal claimed that 13 individuals were taken into custody during the raid. He stated that most were later released, but alleged that none had been spared mistreatment during their detention.

According to Mengal, his manager and a security guard remain unaccounted for following the operation. He later identified the two individuals as Haji Rajab and Ahmed, stating that they had not been released along with the others.

The BNP leader argued that the incident raised serious human rights concerns, alleging arbitrary detention, the seizure of personal mobile phones and physical violence against those detained. He further claimed that the apartment had been targeted on the basis of the occupants’ identity rather than for legitimate security reasons.

Mengal called for immediate information regarding the whereabouts of the two missing individuals and demanded their safe return. He stated that if any allegations existed against those detained, they should be addressed through a transparent legal process and in accordance with the law.

He also urged the Sindh government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to take notice of the incident and address concerns regarding the treatment of Baloch residents in the province.

No official statement had been issued by the Sindh government, police or the relevant security agencies regarding the alleged raid at the time of publication.
