At least nine people, including a woman, three young children, a father and son, have reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance in separate incidents across Balochistan, according to their families.

According to sources, Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) personnel allegedly detained five members of a family from their home in Killi Kongarh of Mastung district at around 6:30pm on 21 July before taking them to an undisclosed location.

The family sources identified missing as 33-year-old Bibi Rafia, daughter of the late Imam Bakhsh; her three children, aged three months, four years and six years; her brother, Mohammad Arif; and her 18-year-old niece, Bibi Nida, daughter of the late Siraj Ahmed.

Family members said they have received no information regarding their whereabouts since the incident and expressed serious concern for their safety. They have appealed to the authorities to ensure the immediate and safe release of all those reportedly detained.

Meanwhile, four additional cases of alleged enforced disappearance have been reported from Quetta and the coastal areas of Gwadar district.

According to relatives, 20-year-old student Owais Shah Baloch was allegedly detained from Quetta’s Qambrani Road at around 5pm on 14 July. His father, 42-year-old Qahim Shah Baloch, was reportedly taken from their home earlier the same day at approximately 3am. The family has alleged that personnel from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) were involved in their detention. There has been no official confirmation of the allegations.

In a separate incident, sources said Muazzam, son of Abdul Majeed, was allegedly detained by Pakistani forces in the Labadi area of Jiwani on the night of 23 July before being taken to an undisclosed location.

Another resident, Adnan, son of Razai, was also reportedly detained from Pishukan area of Jiwani by personnel described by sources as members of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. His whereabouts remain unknown.

Sources further stated that Adnan’s father, Razai, was allegedly subjected to enforced disappearance in 2012, and that his mutilated body was later recovered.

There has been no official response from the Pakistani authorities regarding any of the reported incidents.

The latest cases add to longstanding allegations of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where families, human rights organisations and advocacy groups have for years accused Pakistani security and intelligence agencies of detaining individuals without due process and denying information about their whereabouts. The Pakistani authorities have consistently rejected allegations of involvement in unlawful detentions, stating that security operations are conducted within the framework of the law.

The issue of enforced disappearances remains one of Balochistan’s most contentious human rights concerns. Families of missing persons have regularly organised protests, sit-ins and awareness campaigns, demanding information about the fate and whereabouts of their relatives and calling for accountability. Domestic and international human rights organisations have repeatedly urged Pakistan to investigate reported cases, ensure due process, and provide effective legal remedies for victims and their families.
