The Baloch Students Council (BSC) Islamabad has expressed concern over the reported disappearance of two Baloch students in Islamabad and called for their immediate and safe recovery.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the organisation said that its member Rubina Baloch, a fourth-semester BS Mass Communication student, and Behram Baloch were allegedly forcibly disappeared in Islamabad on 2 July.
According to the council, both students have been unaccounted for since their reported disappearance, and their families have not been provided with information regarding their whereabouts or condition.
The organisation further claimed that incidents involving raids on the residences of Baloch students, as well as alleged threats and harassment, have increased in Islamabad over the past week. It said these developments had contributed to an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among Baloch students in the capital of Pakistan.
Condemning the reported disappearances, the council called on the authorities to provide answers to the families and to disclose the current status and location of the two students.
The statement also urged human rights organisations, lawyers’ associations, political parties, civil society groups and student organisations to raise their voices against enforced disappearances and the alleged targeting of students. It called for greater efforts to uphold human rights, the rule of law and fundamental freedoms.
Pakistani authorities had not publicly commented on the allegations at the time of reporting.
