The body of a young man previously reported missing has been recovered in Kech district of Balochistan, according to local sources and rights activists.
The deceased was identified as Burhanuddin, son of Mohammad Naeem, a resident of the Zamuran area in Kech district.
According to regional sources, Burhanuddin was allegedly taken into custody on 28 October 2025 at approximately 6:30pm from his home in the Beg Miri area of Turbat. Family members and local activists claim that personnel described as members of “death squads” accompanied by Pakistan’s Military Intelligence (MI) officials were involved in the operation.
In a statement, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) said the family had waited more than six months for information regarding his whereabouts before receiving his body.
The organisation alleged that the body bore visible signs of torture and claimed that Burhanuddin had remained in state custody during his disappearance. According to the group, he was never produced before a court and was later subjected to an extrajudicial killing.
The BYC condemned what it described as an ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances, targeted killings and extrajudicial executions in Balochistan. The organisation further appealed to international human rights bodies and the wider international community to take notice of the situation in the region.
No official statement from Pakistani authorities regarding the allegations or the circumstances of Burhanuddin’s death had been issued at the time of reporting.
