Former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani, has said that the solution to Balochistan’s problems lies not in military operations but in the recovery of Baloch missing persons and putting and end to enforced disappearances.

Speaking to a private television channel, Raisani said that the ongoing situation in Balochistan cannot be resolved through force alone. He noted that successive governments repeatedly claim that they will eliminate “terrorism”As and bring everything under control, but the situation on the ground tells a different story.

Raisani said he feels deep sorrow for the young soldiers who lose their lives while on duty, but his greater grief is for the families of the missing persons. According to him, thousands of people in Balochistan have gone missing, yet it remains unclear who picked them up, where they were taken, and what ultimately happened to them.

He added that if the Government of Pakistan maintains that the missing persons are not in its custody, then it must provide evidence to substantiate that claim.

Emphasising the need for transparency, Raisani said that political workers have engaged in peaceful struggle for their national rights, and it is therefore essential that facts regarding the missing persons be brought forward. He stressed that revealing the truth is now an urgent requirement.
