Four fresh cases of enforced disappearances emerged from different parts of Balochistan and Karachi in recent days.
According to the family members, 18-year-old student Mehran Ashraf was picked up on 1 October 2025 by personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) from Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 10. Mehran, originally from Absar in Kech district, had been living in Karachi for his studies.
In Kech district, two other incidents were reported separately. Rehmat Halko, who ran a motor workshop in Zor-Bazar, Turbat, was allegedly abducted by unidentified armed men on 5 October. Eyewitnesses said several masked individuals arrived in vehicles and forcibly took him away.
On 2 October, Mumtaz Saleh was reportedly detained by Pakistan security personnel from his home in Turbat’s Gulshanabad area.
Another case was reported on 5 October from Dando village in the Kulanch area of Gwadar district, where Hameed Baloch was abducted by unknown men.
Human rights groups have long expressed concern over the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where hundreds of people, including students, teachers, and civilians have been reported missing over the years. Rights organisations describe the phenomenon as both a political and humanitarian crisis that has persisted for decades across the region.
