A government employee from the Dank area of Turbat, identified as Abdul Lateef, son of Mohammad Essa, has reportedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces, according to his family. Lateef, who worked with the Public Health Department, was taken from his home during a late-night raid and transferred to an undisclosed location. His whereabouts remain unknown.
Family sources said that security personnel entered the house without a warrant and detained Lateef without explanation. The incident is the latest in a growing number of enforced disappearances reported across Balochistan, drawing condemnation from rights groups and civil society.
In a related development, students at the University of Turbat held a peaceful protest walk on campus on Monday to demand the safe recovery of Javed Baloch, Chairman of the Baloch Students Front (BSF), and Gwahram Ishaq, General Secretary of BSF’s Shal Zone, both of whom have also reportedly been forcibly disappeared.
The demonstration was organised by the Baloch Students Alliance, with a large number of male and female students participating. Protesters demanded the immediate and safe release of all missing persons, including Javed Baloch, a graduate of the University of Karachi and a native of Awaran, who was allegedly abducted from his residence in Karachi on the night of April 23, and has remained missing since.
Student organisations have announced a series of demonstrations under the Baloch Students Alliance to raise awareness and pressure authorities. A protest rally was also held at Karachi University a day earlier as part of the same campaign.
These incidents underscore the widening pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and beyond, with students, professionals, and activists increasingly targeted amid ongoing political unrest in the region.
